“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head.”
What is documentary photography
You may have heard other variations of a documentary photographer, such as photojournalist, natural, etc. Essentially its an observation of people and moments, which come together to tell a story of your day, capturing genuine moments and not endless posing.
This style of photography will capture everything from the early gatherings, the makeup and hair, the church arrivals, the ceremony and the dancing. It tells the story from nerves to the celebration as the day unfolds.
It's an unobtrusive way to catch photos, with little intrusion and anticipating moments. Gone are the days of a photographer directing the day in a few fleeting posed shots. However, I also do some lightly posed elegant shots so you have options for printing.
This means you get to enjoy your day, the emotion, the fun, the gathering of family and friends while I get to shoot the memories for you
Why Documentary Wedding Photography?
You look back on genuine memories and reactions, not what a photographer wants you to do
You get to see things you missed on the day...and there are a lot of those moments
It's perfect if you don't like a lot of posing and a bit camera shy
Captures raw emotion
