As a documentary wedding photographer, I recently had the pleasure of shooting at the Domaine de Grolhier in Busserrolles in France. What a location! A beautiful set of converted barns and idyllic in the grounds which are in the middle of nowhere in the Dordogne. A beautiful location for any wedding and with the sun factored in it makes for some beautiful shots. The location is off the beaten track, quite remote but that makes it all the more perfect for the bride and groom to celebrate and party into the night, which they did in style. The former farm was split into two large barns and the old house and housed the entire wedding party between each building. The ceremony was held in the grounds and as is the custom in France, it had the local Mayor present to hold the wedding in two languages. The wedding breakfast was held on the terrace of the old house, a lovely intimate affair for the 40 or so guests. Although outside, it did have a roof, which was a welcome rest from the hot sun with. The night sky also offers a new dimension to the day. The sky was crystal clear, so much so that you could see the arm of the milky way stretching overhead. Truly stunning.
The couples comments:
